Apocaliptyc vase #1

This piece is inspired by the apocalyptic visions depicted in the Beatus of Liébana, a well known series of medieval manuscripts based on the commentaries on the Book of Revelation written by the 8th-century monk Beatus of Liébana. Widely illustrated throughout the Middle Ages in the Iberian Peninsula, these manuscripts contain some of the most striking visual interpretations of the Apocalypse and its prophecies concerning the end of time.

The work presented here draw specifically on the imagery of the Four Beasts of the Apocalypse, symbolic creatures often understood as representing successive earthly powers and forces opposed to the divine order. This figures are associated with the Roman Empire and the Antichrist, evoking themes of political power, corruption, spiritual conflict, and the ultimate struggle between good and evil, inherent to the apocalyptic narrative.
