(ES) El pasado mes de Marzo de 2024 estuve durante tres semanas realizando una residencia de arte en el espai A Cobert (Moià).

El proyecto titulado «Angeles, sirenas y otros seres apotropaicos» es una investigación de la artista Elara Elvira sobre la iconografía religiosa medieval del territorio. La artista se pregunta sobre las fronteras entre el imaginario de la religiosidad popular y los misterios del arte sacro. Desde una perspectiva contemporánea, ¿podemos reinterpretar este imaginario respetando su simbolismo sagrado?

(EN) Last month of March 2024 I spent three weeks doing an art residency at espai A Cobert (Moià).

The project entitled «Angels, mermaids and other apotropaic beings» is an investigation by the artist Elara Elvira on the medieval religious iconography of the territory. The artist questions the frontiers between the imaginary of popular religiosity and the mysteries of sacred art. From a contemporary perspective, can we reinterpret this imaginary while respecting its sacred symbolism?

(ES) Este innovador proyecto fue concebido a partir de una investigación sobre la iconografía religiosa medieval y moderna en Cataluña. La artista propone una reformulación contemporánea de la imaginería sagrada vinculada al ámbito doméstico, plasmada en un diseño que se incorporará a un azulejo de cerámica neomedieval.
Durante el proceso creativo, la artista ha integrado influencias de los territorios del Bages, el Moianès y Osona, como las del claustro del monasterio de Santa Maria de l’Estany o las de la colección del Museo Episcopal de Vic (MEV), así como otros referentes medievales notables en Cataluña como el Beato de Girona.

Como resultado de este trabajo, la artista ha presentado un vídeo que podrá verse en su canal de Youtube Limia Crafts.

This innovative project was conceived on the basis of research into medieval and modern religious iconography in Catalonia. The artist proposes a contemporary reformulation of sacred imagery linked to the domestic sphere, embodied in a design that will be incorporated into a neo-medieval ceramic tile.
During the creative process, the artist has integrated influences from the territories of Bages, Moianès and Osona, such as those of the cloister of the monastery of Santa Maria de l’Estany or those of the collection of the Episcopal Museum of Vic (MEV), as well as other notable medieval references in Catalonia such as the Beatus of Girona.

As a result of this work, the artist has presented a video that can be seen on her Youtube channel Limia Crafts.
